Meet Rick
Rick with Roy E. Disney at Disney’s Pop Century Resort
I began my career with a pan and broom, sweeping the streets on Main Street USA at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. Those spotless streets led to a 43 year Walt Disney World journey that included 24 years in executive roles in theme parks and seven Disney resort hotels.
Along that path I got to be on the Grand Opening team for Disneyland Paris as well as lead the operations design and opening of Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. Retiring after 43 years with the Disney company, I spent two years as the Chief Operating Officer for Give Kids The World, a non-profit resort providing no-cost vacations to families of kids with critical illnesses. I recently completed working as the COO with the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games, the largest humanitarian event in Florida history with over 4,000 participating athletes. My consulting opportunities have included Great Wolf Lodge, American Heartland Theme Park and Resort, and IDEAS Inc., an experience design company.
I recently had the privilege of joining the Board of Directors for Shepherd’s Hope, a non-profit organization that provides free health care to uninsured people in Central Florida.
Unleashing the power of inspiration to enhance your customer experience is my passion. I look forward to speaking with you soon about how we can achieve just that – together!

Timeline
- 1955
On July 17, Rick’s father Bob Allen Sr., starts work at a new entertainment concept called Disneyland in Anaheim California. Bob’s first job is riding the caboose on the Casey Jr. Circus Train from the movie Dumbo, which gives guests a narrated ride through Storybook Land.
- 1963
Lil’ Ricky Allen joins the Mickey Mouse Club at Disneyland, hoping to meet Annette Funicello. Never got to…but DID get to shake Walt Disney’s hand as he was walking down Main Street, USA!
- 1974
First paid gig as a Fantasyland Custodial Host at Walt Disney World. Learned how to twirl a broom AND where ALL the restrooms are in the park! Go ahead…ask me!
- 1975-1981
Someone asked my dad why I was in college for so many years, to which he replied, “Hey, Rick was only in for 3 terms… 2 of Reagan’s and 1 of Carters!” Somehow snuck out of the University of Florida with an MBA.
- 1982
With a Coordinator Title and fresh Sears navy sports jacket, I hung up my Jungle Cruise Skipper hat to join a team of 3, operating shows and events at Disney’s Lake Buena Vista, Walt Disney World. (Now Downtown Disney)
- 1993
Using same Not-As-Fresh Sears jacket, started a 24 year stint as a Walt Disney Parks/Resort Director… learning bathroom locations across 4 Theme Parks, 26 Resorts, and 2 Water Parks!
- 1996
Rick’s mother Rollie Allen accepts the statue inducting Bob Allen as a Disney Legend from Roy E. Disney. This honor celebrates his 32 years in Operations with roles at Disneyland, Celebrity Sports Center, and Walt Disney World, including as its Vice President. Bob worked directly with Walt on one of his dreams, the Mineral King ski resort project in Northern California.
- 2017
Time for a new jacket! Retired from Disney with a Donald Duck statue, and thousands of stories from 43 years in Operations. Launched into new experiences at Great Wolf Lodge, Give Kids The World, The 2022 Special Olympics USA Games, American Heartland Theme Park and Resort, and IDEAS, an experience design company.
- 2024
Rick Allen Consulting Group is born! Adding speeches and keynotes to my consulting toolbox.
